EVENTS
All-Around Champion Cowboy, 1931
Bull Rider, Champion, 1929-1930, 1932

Born in 1904 on a ranch near Stockton, California, Johnie Schneider grew up with horses and cattle. Despite his small stature, he made an excellent hand at both cowboy chores and rodeo competition.

Johnie Schneider began rodeoing in his home state during the early 1920s. Because he participated in nearly all arena events, he came to be ranked with the top all-around competitors–cowboys like Eddie Curtis, Gene Rambo, and Bud Linderman. During his career Schneider captured three bull-riding championships in addition to his all-around title. He also won the 1936 steer-decorating event.

After retiring from the rodeo circuit in the early 1940s, Johnie Schneider worked for more than twenty years as the brand inspector for Monterey County, California. He died in 1982 at his Livermore home.
