Born in 1956, Clint Johnson grew up between Spearfish and Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and began competing in 4-H rodeos when he was 10 years old. He reached the South Dakota High School Finals from 1971-1974 and made it to the National High School Finals twice. He competed for South Dakota State University during his collegiate career.

Johnson compiled a list of career achievements that are nothing short of amazing. He was the PRCA four-time Saddle Bronc World Champion ~ in 1980, 1987, 1988, and 1989; one of only four saddle bronc riders to win four or more world titles. He won the famed Calgary Stampede, $50,000 bonus three times, and made 21 straight qualified rides at the National Finals Rodeo. He never placed below 7th in the PRCA world standings.

Johnson served on the Board of Directors of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and the PRCA Board for four years and was a model for several Wrangler Jeans’ commercials. He retired from bronc riding in 1991. He was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs in 199
