The National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City has planned an exciting day of learning and exploring.

Come see our galleries of Western art and artifacts. Explore Liichokoshkomo’, our Outdoor Education Experience, an interactive, multi-cultural space that introduces the American West in an immersive hands-on, minds-on environment.

Students can:

•            Contribute to the Code of the West interactive experience

              Visit Native American dwellings and view Western vistas 

•              Learn about ancient and contemporary Native American traditions

•              Explore the playground

•              Explore the role of trading posts in the West

•              Learn more about cattle drives and decisions cowboys had to make

•              Try out steer roping

•              Learn about packing a wagon and decide what to take on a journey out West

•              Immerse yourself in Prosperity Junction, our recreated turn-of-the-century frontier town.

•              Take a tour of the galleries

o             11:00 a.m. – High school-aged students (space is limited on a first-come, first-served basis)

o             1:00 p.m. – Elementary-aged students (space is limited on a first-come, first-served basis)

Be sure to visit the major temporary exhibitions Treasures from our Atherton Vault; Lighting Pathways: Matriarchs of Oklahoma Native Art; Italy’s Legendary Cowboys of the Maremma, Photographs by Gabrielle Saveri and Nations at War! Field Sketches of a Pawnee Warrior.

Activities available while supplies last. Lunch space available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reservations required by March 31. Tickets cannot be refunded after April 1.
