Spiro Mounds afforded researchers a treasure trove of Mississippian material culture. It was full of pottery, woven textiles, incised shells, beaded clothing and many more examples of Native art and craftsmanship. During Spring Break try your hand at similar crafts. Drop by and participate in family-friendly activities and create a different make-and-take craft each day. No reservations required. Activities are available while supplies last. Free for Museum members or with Museum admission.
Many of the baskets you see in the Spiro and the Art of the Mississippian World exhibition are made out of reeds and other plant fibers. Come weave one of your own using a paper plate and yarn!
