Spiro Mounds afforded researchers a treasure trove of Mississippian material culture. It was full of pottery, woven textiles, incised shells, beaded clothing and many more examples of Native art and craftsmanship. During Spring Break try your hand at similar crafts. Drop by and participate in family-friendly activities and create a different make-and-take craft each day. No reservations required. Activities are available while supplies last. Free for Museum members or with Museum admission.

Shell gorgets are a Native American art form of polished, carved shell pendants worn around the neck. The gorgets are frequently engraved, and are sometimes highlighted with paint. Make your own scratch art gorget.
