Bareback Bronc Rider

Born in 1933 at Platte, Colorado, Clyde Frost entered his first rodeo competition at age 14, contending in virtually all events. The following year, at the state Kids Rodeo in La Junta, Colorado, he captured the all-around championship.

Frost joined the Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1953, gradually focused his skills on bareback-bronc contests, and competed at major venues including Denver, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, New York, Boston and San Francisco. He captured the all-around title at Memphis one year, and he qualified for bareback competition at the first NFR at Dallas and in four of the following five years as well.

Clyde Frost retired from competition in 1968 and, in 1978, moved to Lane, Oklahoma, where he ranched and worked with the Oklahoma Youth Rodeo Association. Today, with his wife, Elsie, he is a leading proponent of rodeo sport, building its legacy in memory of their son, Lane Frost, the 1987 PRCA World Champion Bull Rider.
