Western Explorers Summer Camp

Western Explorers Summer Camp offers children ages 6 – 10 opportunities to learn, play and create at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Led by Museum educators, each four-day, small group session features age-appropriate themes, crafts, games, art projects and stories. Campers explore the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, gardens and trails to inspire their imaginations and provide the foundation for fun-filled, creative self-expression. All supplies are included in the children’s sessions. Space is limited.

Weekly Camp Sessions
Camps are offered half-days, Tuesday – Friday, June 29 – July 23, 9:00 a.m. – Noon. $125, $100 Museum for members per week. All supplies provided. Camps are offered for children ages 6 – 7 and 8 – 10. Children should dress in clothes in that are okay to get dirty – some activities may be messy! Before and Aftercare
Before care 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. and Aftercare 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. is available at $40/week per child. During before and aftercare, campers will create small art projects, play games and have free-choice learning. Campers are fully supervised while in before and aftercare. Purchase before and aftercare when you register for camps.

Heart for the Arts
Tuesday, June 29 – Friday, July 2
9:00 a.m. – Noon
Ages 6 – 7 and 8 – 10
Perfect for the art-loving child! Young artists will explore the Museum’s galleries, create original artworks and showcase their masterpieces in a special exhibition on the last day of camp. Campers will learn about the Museum’s collection while honing their skills in print making, watercolors, clay and more. Museum educators will inspire your child to look closely, experiment with materials and try new techniques. Registration is closed, please email camps@nationalcowboymuseum.org.

Animal Adventures
Tuesday, July 6 – Friday, July 9
9:00 a.m. – Noon
Ages 6 – 7 and 8 – 10
Cougars, eagles, bears and more lurk within the gallery walls. Don’t be surprised at the many hiding in plain sight. Adventurers will sharpen their eyes and tune their ears as they explore wildlife in art. Create animal-themed crafts, identify pelts and tracks and play some wild games. Full STEAM Ahead
Tuesday, July 13 – Friday, July 16
9:00 a.m. – Noon
Ages 6 – 7 and 8 – 10
Campers stretch their imagination, build skills and explore science, technology, engineering, art and math through this exciting STEAM summer camp. Discover the geometry in art, explore circuitry and electrochemical cells, build a hovercraft and more! Registration is closed, please email camps@nationalcowboymuseum.org.

Into the West
Tuesday, July 20 – Friday, July 23
9:00 a.m. – Noon
Ages 6 – 7 and 8 – 10
Does your child love history? Campers spend a day in the life of the people that inhabit the West. Play traditional games and discover the cultural traditions and lifeways of indigenous peoples. Explore Liichokoshkomo and learn to build your own shelter. Try traditional agriculture and explore new food systems. Practice the skills of America’s first cowboy—the vaquero, in preparation for the National Day of the American Cowboy. Registration is closed, please email camps@nationalcowboymuseum.org.

Cancellations
For a full refund, the Museum requires at least two weeks notification before the first day of the session for which each child is registered. No refunds are given after this date, but the Museum will provide an acknowledgement letter for the tax-deductible donation to the Museum. Camp sessions are held “rain or shine” unless the Museum is closed due to severe weather conditions. The Museum reserves the right to cancel sessions if registration is below the required minimum. Parents will be notified in advance. Parents may switch their children to other open sessions or receive a full refund.
