Since 1955, honoring rodeo’s greats
Seventy years ago, the National Rodeo Hall of Fame was born in the south end of the West wing of the brand new National Cowboy Hall of Fame. The goal was to add one more story to the many told by the Museum: A story of how across the country, under bright lights and on solid dirt, cowboys and cowgirls transformed the practical skills of riding and ranching into a thrilling athletic endeavor.
Every year, the National Rodeo Hall of Fame welcomes the best competitors, innovators and supporters in the long history of the sport.
They call it “The Hall.”
So, howdy, and welcome.
The Rodeo Historical Society is integral to the National Rodeo Hall of Fame – and you can be a member. Each year, the RHS produces The Ketchpen magazine and hosts the annual Rodeo Hall of Fame Weekend. The RHS also presents the Ben Johnson Memorial Award and Tad Lucas Memorial Award each year at the Champions’ Dinner and Induction Ceremony.
At higher donation levels, supports of the Rodeo Historical Society can receive privledges like:
The Cowboy is home to the Dickinson Research Center and thousands of images from the history of rodeo. We are honored to house the work of great rodeo photographers like Ralph Doubleday, Bern Gregory and Devere Helfrich.
You can browse through these photos anytime on our online catalog. Why not take a look for your favorite cowboy?
