Steer Wrestler, Champion, 1967, 1969, 1972

Born in 1942 at Hichita, Oklahoma, Roy Duvall started bulldogging in professional rodeo in 1960 at age 18. He contested first in the International Rodeo Association, taking the runner-up title in 1962 and capturing the championship in 1963 and 1964.

Duvall joined the Rodeo Cowboy’s Association (now the PRCA) in 1965 and began to compile one of the most remarkable records in the sport. In the 23 years from 1966 to 1991, he qualified for the National Finals in steer wrestling 23 times, finished in the top ten 17 times, was runner-up three times, and captured the world championship three times. Along the way, he won the NFR title in 1986 and the bulldogging at the Prairie Circuit Finals three times as well.

Roy Duvall continues to compete on a limited basis, and he runs a clinic to teach future steer wrestling champions. He now resides ear Checotah, Oklahoma, with his family and works for the preservation of the Honey Springs Battlefield (Civil War) Park.
