Brown Bag: Italy’s Legendary Cowboys of the Maremma

March 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

March 5 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

The butteri are legendary cattle breeders and horsemen of the Maremma, a rugged coastal region that stretches from the plains of northern Lazio to the beaches and inland areas of southern Tuscany. Their pastoral way of life is believed to date back to the spread of agriculture during Etruscan times. Hear Gabrielle Saveri, photographer of the exhibition Italy’s Legendary Cowboys of the Maremma, share who the butteri are, how she became interested in them and why the butteri are historically important. You’ll also learn about their connection to Buffalo Bill and the American West!

Free admission to the Brown Bag presentation. Bring your lunch or purchase one at The Museum Grill.
