Join in a fun day at the Museum’s celebration of National Day of the Cowboy, honoring cowboy culture and pioneering heritage. Embrace your inner-cowboy/girl and dress up in your Western duds and enjoy crafts and activities. The first 300 kids receive a Sheriff’s badge. Decorate a pinwheel, design your own rodeo bib, create a pool noodle stick horse and more! Partake in jerky and hard tack samples while exploring Prosperity Junction and Liichokoshkomo’s Town Square. Enjoy entertainment from the Ward Family Trick Ropers, learn a rope trick or two and watch a Native cowboy and cowgirl dance exhibition by Blackbird Dance Troupe. There will even be a mustache contest! Cool off indoors with a screening of Cowboys: A Documentary Portrait, directed and produced by John Langmore and Bud Force (2019, NR, suggested PG-13, seating social distanced). Following the film, join Langmore for a book signing of his latest book Open Range: America’s Big-Outfit Cowboy. Activities are free with Museum admission and free for members. While supplies last. The Museum Grill will be open 11:00 – 1:30 pm.
