November 19 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
In conjunction with the exhibition Cheyenne Ledger Artists of Fort Marion, you’re invited to attend a discussion featuring the topics of art, history and how our collective past affects communities today. Hear from Curator of Native American Art & Ethnology Dr. Eric Singleton as he provides an overview of the exhibition, and Dolores “Dee” Subia BigFoot, Ph.D. (Caddo) and artist Lew Aytes as they discuss Fort Marion and its impact on current art forms and familial and community identity. Bigfoot is a specialist in early childhood trauma at the University of Oklahoma and a descendant of a Fort Marion prisoner. Aytes is a noted sculptor working with Dr. Bigfoot on an upcoming Fort Marion ledger art exhibition.
$5 for the public; free for Museum members. Light refreshments provided.
