Instructions

The easiest way to do this craft is using clear contact paper. If you don’t happen to have contact paper lying around the house, you can use clear packing tape and wax paper.

Contact Paper

  1. Cut out two 5”-6” squares of contact paper.
  2. Choose a shape. You can draw one freehand, or print out a shape to cut out and use as a template. Use a Sharpie to draw or trace your shape onto the square of contact paper.
  3. Tear the different color tissue into small pieces (~ ½ in. x ½ in.)
  4. Peel the backing of the contact paper and place it sticky side up on the table. Do not discard the backing.
  5. Begin sticking the torn up pieces of tissue paper onto the traced shape. Be sure to cover the whole shape and overlap the edges.
  6. When you have finished covering the shape with tissue paper, place another piece of contact paper, sticky side to sticky side, to enclose the tissue between two layers.
  7. Cut out your shape.
  8. Use the hole punch to punch a hole in the top of your shape. Thread yarn through the hole to hang it from.
  9. Hang it in a window so it can catch the sunlight.

Tape and Wax Paper

  1. Cut a few strips of tape about 6 inches long. Put them on the wax paper sticky side down lined up with about a ½ inch of overlap.
  2. Choose a shape. You can draw one freehand, or print out a shape to cut out and use as a template. Use a Sharpie to draw or trace your shape onto your tape.
  3. Tear the different color tissue into small pieces (~ ½ in. x ½ in.)
  4. Slowly and carefully peel the tape off the wax paper. Be sure to keep the strips of tape together. Lay the tape down with the sticky side up.
  5. Begin sticking the torn up pieces of tissue paper onto the traced shape. Be sure to cover the whole shape and overlap the edges.
  6. When you have finished covering the shape with tissue paper, place more strips of tape over the shape, sticky side to sticky side, to enclose the tissue between two layers.
  7. Cut out your shape.
  8. Use the hole punch to punch a hole in the top of your shape. Thread yarn through the hole to hang it from.
  9. Hang it in a window so it can catch the sunlight.
