Bob Moorhouse, a Texas native born in Knox City on November 6, 1947, is a renowned rancher, horseman, and photographer. Raised in Benjamin, Texas, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Animal Business in 1972. Bob was General Manager of the Pitchfork Ranch, a historic ranch known for its commercial Hereford and Crossbred cattle and Quarter Horses, from 1986 to 2007. Even after his retirement, he remains actively involved as a member of the Board of Directors of the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Co.
Bob’s passion for photography emerged 18 years ago when he recognized the opportunity to document the cowboy lifestyle. His work, capturing the essence of the cowboy way of life, has been published in numerous well-known magazines like Western Horseman, American Cowboy, and Range Magazine. His photography is also part of the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center and Museum’s traveling exhibit, “Hoofbeats on the Pitchfork Ranch,” which has toured extensively across the United States and Europe.
Beyond photography, Bob is actively engaged in the ranching community. He holds positions on several committees, including the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and serves as a director for the American Quarter Horse Association. He also participates in the Ranching Heritage Association and the Working Ranch Cowboys Association. Bob lives with his wife, Linda, and they have two daughters, Amy and Keri Ann.
