Oregon

Bio

EVENTS
Saddle Bronc Rider
Calf Roper and Team Roper
Stock Contractor and Pick-up Man

Born at Mapleton, Oregon, in 1913, Albert “Bob” Christensen grew up working on the family ranch, where riding came naturally to him. He and his older brother, Hank, staged their own ranch rodeos in the late 1920s and began supplying rough stock to various Oregon venues.

Christensen rodeoed from 1927 into the early 1940s, competing at notable venues such as Calgary, Pendleton, Reno and Salinas. In 1936, however, the family turned its talents to stock contracting, and Bob became the stock superintendent and arena pick-up man. For more than forty years, the Christensen Brothers Rodeo Company served venues large and small throughout the Northwest, as well as the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) at all four of its home cities. Ranked among the firm’s great bucking horses were Miss Klammath, War Paint, and Smith & Velvet.

Widely respected around the rodeo circuit as a man who knew horses, Bob Christensen was inducted in to the Pendleton Round-Up Hall of Fame in 1988 and the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 1989. He passed from the arena in 2007.
