Mitzi Lucas Riley
Born January 10th, 1928, she was the daughter of champion cowboy Buck Lucas and World Champion cowgirl Tad Lucas. Mitzi began performing in rodeos at age six, sharing the stage with her mother. She went on to perform at major events like the Texas Centennial Celebration and Madison Square Garden. In 1947, she married champion calf roper Lanham Riley, and they raised five children. Mitzi retired from rodeo in 1954. She served on the board of the Rodeo Historical Society, establishing the Tad Lucas Award to recognize outstanding women in rodeo.
