Calf roper, steer roper and team roper Cody Ohl was born in 1973 at Rosenburg, Texas. He joined the PRCA in 1994 and finished the season as Resistol Overall Rookie of the Year.

Cody Ohl captured the World Champion Calf Roper titles in 1997 and 1998. He was a leading money winner from 1997 through 2001, setting the PRCA season earnings record ($222,794) for calf roping in 1998. Throughout the 2001 season, Ohl, by then a “million-dollar cowboy” on the circuit, dominated the calf roping event. At the National Finals in Las Vegas, he captured both the World Champion Calf Roper and the World All-Around Champion Cowboy titles in 2001.

Cody Ohl suffered a serious knee injury at the 2001 NFR. Back on the rodeo trail late in 2002, he captured his fifth and sixth tie-down roping titles in 2003 and 2006, missing only one NFR appearance between 1994 and 2014. He passed the $3 million earnings mark in 2012 and retired in 2019.
