Born near Union City, Oklahoma, in 1927, Bill “Goodtimes” Feddersen found rodeo when friend and mentor Ed Curtis put him on a bronc at Hinton, Oklahoma. Feddersen won the $100 first prize ~ along with a 10-gallon hat ~ and his life on the rodeo road began.

Today a PRCA Gold Card member, Feddersen joined the Cowboys Turtle Association in 1945, specializing in saddle-bronc competition. He was the first saddle-bronc rider to buck out at the inaugural National Finals Rodeo in 1959, and he qualified for the prestigious rodeo as a bronc rider five more times (1960-1963, 1965). He also was an accomplished bulldogger, qualifying for the NFR in 1960. He reportedly threw a steer in 2.9 seconds at the McAlester, Oklahoma, rodeo.

Bill Feddersen served on RCA and Rodeo Foundation boards and was selected to develop the first rodeo judges’ school. He also was handpicked by Jim Shoulders as a bronc-riding instructor at Shoulders’ rodeo schools.
