Curator Conversations – The Santa Fe Trail
January 11, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm
The Santa Fe Trail was the first international superhighway in the United States, connecting Missouri to Mexico through Santa Fe and down to Chihuahua. While we commemorate the 200th anniversary of the first traders from the U.S. traveling west to Santa Fe via the trail in 2021, Spanish — then Mexican — traders had been traveling east along the same route since the 1790s. Join Michael Grauer, McCasland Chair of Cowboy Culture and Curator of Cowboy Collections and Western Art, for a conversation that strives to broaden the context of what we know about this most famous of trails. $5; free for Museum members.
