Introduction
The Harry Taylor Collection contains a variety of Rodeo Programs from the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. The dates of the programs range from 1937 to 1962 ( there are programs missing from this series of dates). There are souvenir programs that go with several of the Rodeo programs. The souvenir programs range in date from 1940 to 1962. The collection also contains various newspaper clippings from several newspaper. The clippings represent articles covering rodeo events, which took place in the Wyoming rodeo, from 1936 to 1956. Some of the clippings do not contain a date published or the title of the newspaper that published the article. The collection also contains brochures of Rodeo Contest Rules for the Cheyenne rodeo. The brochures range in date from 1937 to 1961 (there are brochures missing from this series of dates). This collection has a map of Cheyenne, Wyoming dated 1954, a list of Heels Assignments dated 1962 and a score sheet dated 1960.
Biography
Harry Taylor was born and raised in Mountain View, Wyoming. He owned a cattle ranch in this same town where he raised Hereford cattle. Taylor began his rodeo career at the Big Piney rodeo in 1947 and in 1954 he won the steer wrestling event at the Pawhuska Rodeo.
Scope & Content Note
This collection contains 54 rodeo programs from the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. The dates of the programs range from 1937 to 1962 (not all dates in this series are present). There are 8 souvenir programs that date from 1940 to 1962. The collection also contains 7 brochures of the Rodeo Contest Rule for several of the Cheyenne Rodeos. The brochure dates range from 1937 to 1961, with several dates missing from this series. The collection contains 12 newspaper clippings, which range in date from 1936 to 1956. Seven of the newspaper articles contain no date and many of the articles do not contain the name of the newspaper that published the articles. This collection contains a 1954 map of the Cheyenne, Wyoming area, a list of Heels Assignments dated 1962 and a scoring sheet dated 1960. The materials were not organized by the collector in any particular manner. The collection contains one series, which represents the miscellaneous nature of the collection.

Processing Information
Organization: The creator of this collection did not maintain any particular form of organization. Folder titles were created based on the materials found in the collection.
Processing: The collection was processed on September 29 and the present finding aid was created on October 1, 2003 by Karen Spilman. The processing was supervised by Chuck Rand, Research Center Director. The Rodeo Programs were removed and placed within the institutional collection of Rodeo Programs. Separation sheets were created to allow for cross referencing of the programs to the original collection.
