Eventually he bought a farm in Cowley County, Kansas of 280 acres of farmland and 700 acres of pasture land. He lived on that site until 1910 when he moved to a farm near Cambridge, Kansas, where he lived for the remainder of his life. The farm had a total acreage of 4,000 acres where he pastured 1000 head of cattle.
