Bio
Roy Owens was an influential figure in California’s livestock industry. He bought and sold thousands of sheep and cattle from his 12,000-acre ranch west of Red Bluff, California.
He is known for developing and staging the annual Red Bluff bull sale. With rigid requirements on quality, conformation and soundness of consigned animals, the sale set the standard for high quality and became one of the largest in the West.
Owens was president of the Red Bluff Roundup Association for 12 years. He was also a leader in soil and water conservation in northern California.
