Wyoming

Samuel Calhoun Hyatt, born on March 27, 1894, in Hyattville, Wyoming, was a prominent cattleman and influential figure in the industry. He dedicated 30 years to advocating for state and national cattlemen’s policies, taking his expertise to Washington, D.C., where he played a crucial role in guiding legislation through Congress. Hyatt was instrumental in implementing the Taylor Grazing Act in Wyoming, particularly in the Big Horn Basin, the act’s first district. He also successfully pushed for an amendment that placed grazing boards beyond the arbitrary control of the Secretary of the Interior.
