Bio

EVENTS
Rodeo Producer

Born in 1906 at Vienna, Illinois, Ava Colborn became the quiet partner of one of rodeo’s biggest producers. In 1927 she wed rodeo livestock contractor Everett Colborn.

During the company’s thirty-year history, Ava Colborn took an active part in producing rodeos all around the nation. The Colborns’ Lightning C Ranch, near Dublin, Texas, was the world’s only facility devoted to breeding and raising rodeo stock. There they raised two daughters who also learned the cowboy trade.

For the Colborns, rodeo was a family business. Both daughters, Carolyn and Rosemary, worked the rodeo at Madison Square Garden every year. In the 1960s Ava and Everett Colborn retired to their ranch, where he died in 1985.
