EVENTS
Saddle Bronc Rider

Born near Midland, Texas, in 1912, Vick Blackstone was a working cowhand by age 13. He started rodeoing about five years later.

Vick Blackstone entered every event, but he eventually specialized in bronc riding. He spent a lifetime on the circuit in the Midwest and South and also competed at Pendleton and Madison Square Garden. In 1939 he won all five major events at the Fargo, Florida, rodeo, a record never matched.

In 1937 he married a young trick rider, and for the next 14 years Vick and Faye Blackstone traveled the rodeo circuit across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Over their 30-year career, the Blackstones used their rodeo earnings to buy and build a ranch near Parrish, Florida. Vick Blackstone retired from the arena in 1960 and died in 1987.
