Born in 1919, G. K. Lewallen’s rodeo career spanned a 20-year period. He entered competition in 1937 and actively contested in the bull-riding, saddle-bronc riding, and bareback-bronc riding events.

Lewallen traveled the circuit from Texas to Iowa and from New Mexico to Montana. In 1945 he won the bull riding event and placed in bronc riding at Madison Square Garden, and went on to win all three riding events at Coleman and Killeen, Texas, and Chanute, Kansas. He also won at Albuquerque, Fort Worth, Rapid City, Billings, Woodward and Burwell–certainly his most outstanding year in rodeo.

After retiring from rodeo in the mid-1950s, G. K. Lewallen owned and operated a western wear store in Stephenville, Texas. He also helped train the Tarleton State University rodeo team. He resides in Stephenville.
