Bareback Bronc Rider, Champion, 1935
Born near Stockton, California, in 1912, “Frankie” Schneider was a champion in the 1930s. At age 13 he went to work for livestock contractor Cuff Burrell but soon followed his brother, Johnnie Schneider, into competition.
Frankie Schneider contested in bull riding and bareback riding. He captured the RAA bull- riding championship in 1933 and 1934 and came back in 1935 to win the bareback crown. He also competed in steer decorating. During his career he carried on a feud with the infamous bucking horse, The Crying Jew, drawing him 16 times and riding him to the money seven times.
After retiring from the arena, Frankie Schneider worked in California as a ranch foreman for the El Tejon Cattle Company until the time of his death in 1983.
