Brown Bag Lunch Series: 1821 Missouri and Mexico’s Bicentennials—South/North International Trade Begins

September 16, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Missouri became a state in 1821, and 2021 marks its 200th anniversary of statehood. That same year, Mexico became a nation, having gained its independence from Spain. When Mexico opened trade with the United States, Hispano and American entrepreneurs were ready and able to make the Santa Fe Trail a two-way international trade route and a conduit for cultural exchange between the two nations. Presented by Dr. Gene T. Chávez, Ed.D. Bring your lunch or purchase one at The Museum Grill. Reservations are not required. Free admission to the Brown Bag presentation and The Museum Grill.
