October 12, 2024 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
October 12, 2024 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Join Let’s Talk About It, a book club for people who love to read and discuss great literature! Read There There and participate in a discussion led by Ken Hada. Tommy Orange’s wondrous and shattering novel follows twelve characters from Native communities: all traveling to the Big Oakland Powwow, all connected to one another in ways they may not yet realize. Together, this chorus of voices tells of the plight of the urban Native American grappling with a complex and painful history, with an inheritance of beauty and spirituality, with communion and sacrifice and heroism.
This is part of a five-part series connecting book discussion with the Museum’s exhibition Cheyenne Ledger Artists of Fort Marion.
Ken Hada is a poet and English and languages professor at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He is a recipient of the Museum’s Western Heritage Award and six-time finalist of the Oklahoma Book Awards.
