The sesquicentennial of Yellowstone National Park is an opportunity to exhibit more of the National Cowboy Museum’s permanent art collection that focuses on the unique landforms and spaces in Yellowstone National Park and to inculcate in the visitor the importance of preserving these lands for public appreciation and enjoyment. Using its permanent collection and two borrowed paintings from the Gilcrease Museum the National Cowboy Museum can amplify how it preserves and interprets the evolving American West through works of art and educates and enriches its diverse audiences through exposure to fine works of art and the landscape of the American West these works depict.
