This collection consists of Barbara Bockelman’s cowboy poetry, an unpublished manuscript titled “A Permanent Home,” and an assortment of articles.
Growing up on a ranch in Oklahoma inspired Barbara Bockelman’s poetry. In 1989, after raising a family and earning her bachelor’s degree, Bockelman began writing poetry that reflected her ranching experiences. She spoke at regional cowboy poetry events and schools hoping to preserve the stories of the ranching industry and its importance to the American West.

This collection consists of photocopied poems by Bockelman, an unpublished manuscript titled “A Permanent Home,” and various articles written by and about Bockelman.
The Barbara Bockelman Cowboy Poetry Collection was donated to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in 2002 by Barbara Bockelman.
