Floyd Eugene Carroll

Bio

Floyd Carroll was a long-time veterinarian. He was born on a ranch in 1893 just north of Cheyenne.

In 1914, he won the bronc-busting World’s Championship at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. At age 21, he was the youngest man ever to receive the top cowboy’s silver buckle.

He was a stunt rider doubling for Tom Mix and others before military service in World War I. He opened one of the first veterinary practices in Cheyenne following his war experience.

Carroll often worked long hours and traveled more than 100 miles a day throughout Wyoming to serve his patients.

In addition to his veterinary work, he served as a deputy sheriff and brand inspector.
