Born at Abilene, Texas, in 1926, Billy Weeks grew up in a ranching and rodeoing family. He entered his first contest at the Abilene Fair Park Arena at age six and won the steer riding event, starting a career that lasted 44 years. He joined the Rodeo Cowboy’s Association in 1946.

As a professional, Billy Weeks competed in the rough stock events; he was a consistent winner at many of the major rodeos throughout the United States and Canada. At the Cheyenne Frontier
Days Rodeo in 1947, he captured the saddle-bronc championship. In 1951, Weeks won the all-around at Boulder, where his name was added to the prestigious Doff Aber Memorial Trophy. The following year, he took the all-around at Cheyenne and the IRA bareback championship.

When Billy Weeks retired from active rodeo competition, he worked as a ranch foreman, race horse trainer and rodeo judge. He served as timed-event judge at Cheyenne for 24 consecutive years. Weeks passed from the arena in 1988.
