Bareback Bronc Rider, Champion, 1949, 1959-1960

Born in 1927, Jack Buschbom grew up in a rodeo family. He began his career riding bulls at the age of 16. Before long, he turned to bareback competition, and by the time he was 19 in 1948, he ranked second in the bareback standings.

During his 14-year career in rodeo, Jack Buschbom never ranked less than fourth overall among bareback riders. Between 1953 and 1959, he was always ranked among the top 10 for the
Rodeo Cowboy Association’s All Around Cowboy title. During his time in rodeo, along with three bareback championships, Buschbom won nearly $200,000 in total purse money.


Jack Buschbom retired from rodeo competition in 1962, moving from Mobridge, South Dakota, to Green Forest, Arkansas.
