Saddle Bronc Rider, Champion, 1963
Born in 1932 at Abilene, Texas, Guy Weldon Weeks came from a rodeo family. His father and two uncles preceded him in the sport. At age six young Guy Weeks entered the junior roping at Stamford, Texas. At age nine he began calf riding, at age 11 he was a jockey, and in the 1940s he entered professional rodeo.
An outstanding saddle-bronc man and an excellent calf roper, Guy Weeks was a consistent winner in the 1954-1964 period. He took three North American all-around crowns at Calgary. He also captured the saddle-bronc titles at major venues all across the nation. In the 1950s he usually ranked among the nation’s top five saddle bronc riders, finally winning the RCA championship in his event in 1963.
Guy Weeks retired from active competition in the late 1960s. In later life he has trained horses, farmed, and ranched near Abilene, Texas.
