Rodeo Announcer
Pete Logan believes that his 14 years in radio broadcasting helped him succeed in the rodeo business. Born in 1917 in Illinois, he had a varied career before he became a professional announcer in the late 1940s.
For three decades Logan’s was the voice of rodeos all across the nation. He announced Madison Square Garden 10 times, San Antonio 39 times (for nearly 700 performances), Las Vegas’s Helldorado 30 times, and the National Finals Rodeo eight times.
When NBC broadcast the first televised rodeo in the 1950s, 40 million viewers heard Pete Logan call the action. This propelled Logan into a career as a movie narrator in such films as “Run”, “Appaloosa”, “Junior Bonner”, and “Hang Your Hat on the Wind”, as well as television episodes of “Gunsmoke” and “Daniel Boone”. Pete Logan died in 1993.
