Born at Harlem, Montana, in 1936, Bob Ragsdale took to rodeo at an early age and captured the Montana High School All Around Cowboy title in 1956. Ragsdale joined the Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1961 and, as a calf roper, qualified for the National Finals Rodeo 15 consecutive times (1961-1975). He also qualified twice in team roping and five times as a steer wrestler.

Bob Ragsdale has consistently served the sport of rodeo as well as himself. He was president of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association from 1973 through 1975, and served for six years on the executive board of the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association. As a member of the latter organization, Ragsdale captured the calf roping championship in 1996 and 2000, and the Senior Pro Rodeo Association World Champion All Around Cowboy title in 1998, 1999 and 2000. He was inducted into the Saint Paul Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2001.

Ragsdale still rodeos, competing in team roping and ribbon roping. He currently serves on the PRCA’s Humane Advisory Board and the on the advisory board of Friends of Rodeo.
