World Champion Bull Rider, 1969
Rough-stock Rider
Arena Judge
Born in 1946 at Buckley, Washington, Doug Brown was not only a world-class rough-stock cowboy; he also ventured into the corporate side of rodeo, worked as an arena judge for more than a decade, and conducted rodeo schools for nearly 20 years.
After joining the Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1964, Brown excelled in all three rough-stock events. The Oregon State graduate qualified for 13 National Finals Rodeos in saddle-bronc riding and bull riding, winning the bull riding world title in 1969 and finishing second in the all-around race to Larry Mahan. He last qualified for the NFR in 1979, finishing third in the all-around standings. Brown also won four Columbia River Circuit titles and competed in team roping before retiring in 1992. He then judged rodeos for a decade and conducted rodeo schools from 1984-2012.
Justin Boots hired Doug Brown as a sales rep in 1980, and he stayed in that capacity for 15 years. An inveterate rodeo hand, he still team ropes on his ranch in Silverton, Oregon.
