September 24 @ 10:00 am 2:00 pm

In partnership with the Cherokee Nation, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum presents a Cherokee Cultural Celebration.

Students will experience activities connected with 19th Century Cherokee culture and lifestyle, including hands-on participation in Cherokee games like stickball, marbles and chunkey. Demonstrations in pottery making and finger weaving will show the unique Cherokee lifestyle of this time. Other activity stations will introduce kids to period toys, the Cherokee language and storytellers sharing Cherokee lore.

Our Museum galleries and exhibitions will be open for self-guided exploration. Students are encouraged to visit all stations to earn a prize for their participation!

Admission is free for students and chaperones (one for every seven students). Space is limited and pre-registration is required by September 20.

Note: Space provided to eat lunch. The event will be held rain or shine. Ask about a bus travel reimbursement.
