Saddle Bronc Rider, Champion, 1960
Born in 1932 at Camp Verde, Arizona, Enoch Walker grew up on a ranch. He learned to ride broncs by breaking colts. Walker entered his first professional rodeo contest in 1953.
Nicknamed “the bronc man,” Enoch Walker concentrated on the saddle-bronc event, and other contestants knew that he was a man to beat. In a decade long career, he placed in the RCA top rankings a dozen times. He won or placed at most of the major venues, and in 1960 he placed 126 times at 56 rodeos. In that year he capped his career with the saddle-bronc championship.
A great cowboy and outstanding bronc rider, Enoch Walker retired to his Oregon ranch in the early 1960s after suffering a serious injury in the arena. He died in 1979.
