Karen Womack has spent her life in the world of rodeo. Her parents were rodeo clowns based in Phoenix, Arizona, the town of her birth. In her youth, Karen Womack followed them into the sport, and she also studied with fames rodeo clown Dick Griffith.

 

In 1962 Karen Womack formed her own troupe. The Flying Cimarrons. This spectacular specialty act performed all around the world. Later she formed a contract act, The Firebirds. Marriage to rodeo livestock contractor Harry Vold came in the 1960s.

 

Karen Womack Vold gained the respect of producers and performers alike for her efforts to preserve the heritage of trick riding. Today she resides in Pueblo, Colorado. For her contributions to the sport she received the Tad Lucas Memorial Award in 1992.
